The possible reasons:
1. There is no connection with the Internet.
2. On your computer it is established Firewall (Brandmauar Windows) and \or an antivirus blocking connection MetaTrader4. Open options Firewall (antivirus) and resolve entering and proceeding traffic on port 444 (if the account real) or 443 (if the account of a demo or contest) for service terminal.exe. As a last resort block work Firewall (antivirus) or unload it. Cases when helped only uninstall an antivirus and computer reboot are known.
3. If you use a working network of the organisation, probably, Internet connection is carried out through a proxy-server. Specify at your system administrator the address of a proxy-server and port for Internet connection, then register these data in terminal options (the menu Tools-> Options-> the Server; put a tick "Enable proxy server"; press button "Proxy" and register in the appeared menu the address, port, a login and the proxy-server password).
4. If the account real, probably, in your network is blocked port 444. Specify at your system administrator, whether the port 444, and if it so ask to resolve entering and proceeding traffic on this port is closed.
The port 444 can be blocked also the provider. Therefore, if you leave in the Internet directly on ADSL or if through a local network, but the system administrator has opened port 444 or asserts, that it is opened, contact the provider and specify, whether the port 444 is closed. If the port is closed, probably, it is necessary to replace the provider. As a variant, it is possible to leave in the Internet through the usual modem, it is quite enough of it for work MetaTrader4.
5. At your provider of a problem with a foreign communication channel. Try to open foreign and local web sites (www.sun.com, www.ya.ru) and if the first do not open, and the second open, communicate with the provider and take an interest, in what a problem.
Choose in the dropping out list of servers in the menu the "File"-> the Login a server approaching for your type of the account.
